Shadowfang sat down next to the pond. He looked for any sign of fish as he waited for his two apprentices. He was going to teach them hunting today. The mottled warrior had been strangely distant since the death of Brakenstar, and the rise of Larkstar.

Shadowfang rolled his eyes as he heard Rainpaw come up. "The sky, the tree branches, I suppose." The dark warrior replied. "Is Ghostpaw going to get here before sunhigh?" he sounded inpatient.

'Yes, she is!' Since her sister's fall, the young she-cat had grown her sister's past personality. She now claimed to a sharp tougne and a ever hyper mood. Ghostpaw felt it was her duty to take her sisters place in the clan as the outgoing one. Spiritpaw, however, still ahdn't recouvered. The gray tabby padded into the clearing, sitting before her mentor.

Shadowfang's whiskers twitched as he tried not to grin. "So I see. Well, now that everyone is present and accounted for, let's get started. Last time we practiced your fighting moves, so this time we're going to work on hunting. Now, which one of you can tell me how best to sneak up on a mouse?"

((Ghostpaw, you mean!))
Ghostpaw's tail curled around her paws, and she looked about herself. 'I assume quietly, wouldn't you, Rainpaw?'
((She's got a bit of an attitude now!))

Shadowfang looked away for a moment, then back at his apprentices. "Quietly, perhaps, but softly would be a better term here. A mouse will feel the vibrations of your pawsteps before it hears you, so you have to learn to put almost no weight on your feet. This is a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, you won't forget it."

The she-cat rolled her eyes impaciently (holy! more like Spirit!). 'Yeah, same thing...'

Shadowfang fixed Ghostpaw with a stern look. "Keep up that attitude misssie, and you'll be taking care of the elders for a very long time. Since you seem to be under a false impression of intellegence, why don't youi demonstrate how we would hunt a mouse?"

Rainpaw just sat still with her eyes closed listening quietly, she knew it would be rude to stare at Ghostpaw.

The she-cat nodded. 'Alright than, besides, I've always been the swift and brain, Spiritpaw the courage and skill...' She muttered the last part under he breath, as she stalkered towards a mouse. Her paws were light upon the ground, her auds pircked towards the critter. Without another thought, she sprang upon it, biting down and hearing the crack of a tiny neck...

Shadowfang nodded, impressed against his will. "Yes, that is how. However, you were putting too much weight on your left front paw. Nothing serious or damaging to the hunt, unless you happened to hit a twig or crunchy leaf. Rainpaw, why don't you try now?"

Rainpaw nodded ,and dropped into a hunters crouch she said nthing. She was light on her paws . She stopped and shifted her weight. She pushed off the ground noislessly ,and killed the mouse with a strike of her paw.
